How can Instagrid help you with your mobile power challenges? As per a recent report, the portable power storage technology is likely to touch $439.3 million by 2028, which is almost double its current market size. The current global political environment, which includes lockdowns, wars, and invasions, is pushing the countries and their people to find alternate energy sources.

Sebastian Berning and Andreas Sedlmayr decided to jump right into this competitive market of portable power and founded their Germany-based company, Instagrid (also stylized “instagrid”), in 2018.

This year, Instagrid was able to raise a total of $45 million in funds, making its plans to expand in Europe and the US a step closer to reality. Its CEO and co-founders, Berning and Sedlmayr, explained that the new fund would help them “make the transition to sustainable energy” in a more effective way. “Mobile battery storage systems add speed and flexibility to the energy transition and will enable the electrification of many sectors of the economy in the first place,” they added.

The portable battery market is divided into three categories based on their capacities: less than 500 Wh, between 500 Wh to 1.499 kWh, and greater than 1.500 kWh. North America, Asia Pacific, and Europe are the current global key players. Their product, the Instagrid  ONE Max, is strictly designed to be used by professionals in sectors such as construction, public events, or public safety but can also be used for outdoor activities such as camping since the keyword is “off-the-grid.”

The Instagrid ONE Max delivers a staggering 2.1 kWh of power and consumes 230V/50Hz of electric power source. And the best part about it is that it has enough power to empower construction workers by allowing them to rummage a sharp-looking room into mere bits of concrete, especially in off-the-grid locations.

The battery of the Instagrid ONE Max is of the standard Li-ion make and takes around 3 hours to charge. It is able to perform pretty well in construction, catering, film screening, filming activities, and off-the-grid areas. For instance, the device enables a diamond core drill, which requires 3,330 watts to function, to drill 32 inches on concrete with 150mm depth per hole.

In the field of catering, it can run two 2,800W espresso machines to pour out 120 cups of brewed espresso. It also enables a 1,800 W telescopic camera crane to function for 2-4 hours and can power a food truck for four hours. The Instagrid ONE Max weighs 20kg, which is supposed to be light in the portable battery world, and costs €3207.05 without any shipping cost throughout Europe only.

Instagrid has severe competition in this niece sector of technology. Being fairly new in this market, it faces the likes of Jackery and EcoFlow that have taken this competition to the solar level. Despite that, Instagrid ONE Max is truly one of the most lightweight and noiseless power beasts available in the market that replaces fossil-fueled generators and combustion engines.

The device will also reduce CO2 emissions by up to 85% on projects it is working on throughout its lifecycle. It emits less than 10dB of sound when in action. The device can store the gathered electrical energy for more than three years, provided the switch is either turned off or is on “transport mode.”
